Prior to beginning this discussion, read Chapter 2 from the course text and the article HR’s Strategic Role: Champions of High Performance or Organizational Sandbags? (Links to an external site.) In this article, Lee (2013) describes the roles of HR in ensuring high performance within an organization. In order to ensure high performance, HR strategies must be aligned with the organization’s strategic mission, vision, and goals.
Choose an organization with which you are familiar and describe the alignment between the organization’s mission and goals and the existing performance management system. How do the organization’s goals relate to individual employee goals?
At the end of the article, Lee posed a question, “Does having high standards mean that some employees will not meet them and should, therefore exit the organization?” (2013, para. 19). Based on your readings related to the relationship between organizational goals and employee goals, how would you answer this question?
Your initial response must be a minimum of 250 words.
